Default Forced to Watch Previews!

I just bought and watched "Patton" on Blu-Ray. The movie is great but I was surprised that I am forced to watch a preview for "Jumpers". I cannot hit the top menu button and go to setup, scene selection, etc. I get "This action is not available" when I try.

Is this what others have experienced or is it just the Patton BD?

Try "chapter skip".

The same thing happens to me when I go to the theater, so I go get
popcorn while the previews are playing.

You might not be able to skip them but you can scan thru them to the next one, on some BD you can just hit next and it jumps to the next preview.

Previews in theaters make sense. On the disk...less so. Do we really want to see a 'preview' for a movie when we're rewatching the disk years down the line?

Over half the units any disc will move in its history happen in the first 6 weeks

So yes, they're very relevant to the here and now

The signal has a bunch of previews, but they were for really damn cool movies.

I think Rambo 4 has this BS going on. I really dislike the unskipable stuff. Atleast with VHS you could fast forward through them and Laserdisc didnt even have previews.

I had a DVD that wouldn't even let you fast forward through the previews.

I've done it so many times I have to go through it slowly to see what buttons I press but if top menu or pop-up menu doesn't work, try skip and sometimes, you can hit skip once and then the menu buttons will work. Really depends on the disc. I kind of go through a combination of button presses and something usually works (i.e. don't recall having to watch previews on anything recent anyway).

This is what is really starting to piss me off. If they want to put previews on the disc fine, but make them only selectable in the menu or extras. Don't even get me started on the commercials, tv show ads, and other nonsense at the theater. I do like to watch previews for upcoming movies at the theater though.

Hmmm... I don't.
I can either skip to next chapter or set one of my softwares to go straight to the movie - no trailers.

YAY for computer drives and software!

I think people would love Disney FastPlay on BD, hopefully it's something we'll see. This is also a good reason why BD-Live is great, imagine getting new trailers as opposed to static ones sitting on your disc.

that's just unacceptable in my book.

MENU should take you right to the menu, from anywhere at anytime during playback.

I complained to Penton to pass along to Paidgeek that Sony doing this on baron munchausen was a negative in my book.

I know I can chapter skip. It's annoying as hell on the 1st two pirates movies where you have to skip multiple commercials.

Wish all movies would just select the best audio (or let me specify an order of preference on my PS3) and then go right to playing the movie.

Greetings,

The last couple of Sony discs that I have reviewed have gone right to the main menu. The previews are included but as a menu option which is nice.

I agree that being forced to either watch them or chapter skip through them is a pain.

Regards,
