Default Outright Toshiba misinformation

Was in Circuit City this past weekend and noticed someone I knew shilling for Toshiba HD DVD.

Don't want to get him in trouble (it's a contract job)...he knew me as somewhat of a tech "expert" and he knows not too much about the format war so he showed me a sheet that Toshiba is using to sell (a FAQ of sorts) and this was interesting (paraphrasing, I don't remember the *exact* wording):

Q:What is the difference between the PS3/Wii and HD DVD and the HD DVD add on for the 360?

A: The Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii does not support HD DVD or DVD.

I've come across more than a couple people that are convinced BD players do not play DVDs. CDs I could understand, but with outright BS like this it's no wonder some have that impression. When official Toshiba training materials say this...

I let him know the truth of course. The PS3 plays DVDs, it does not upconvert them *at this time*. The Wii doesn't play DVDs (yet).

BD is outselling HD-DVD almost 3:1 right now, so stupid drones like these are simply going to get washed over in the ever growing Blu tidal wave of 2007 anyways.

There's at least one Toshiba rep you can uh...air your grievances against on several forums, if you felt like it.

I've gone head to head with Murchie on more than a few occasions. The fact that he defends HD DVD so vigorously and not owning anything is beyond hypocritical. I defend BD but at least I have a PS3 and a large pile of BDs sitting next to me while I do it!

I don't recall Sony ever posting such inaccurate information about the competition.
