Default Survey suggests UK's technology shop staff believe HD DVD will win outright

A survey of 425 shop staff across stores including Currys.digital, Comet, and John Lewis by technology agency Gekko suggests that 60% believed that the HD DVD format would win outright in the high definition disc format war. 38% plumped for Blu-ray, with 2% undecided.

Whether these are knowledgeable shop staff isn't clear, but it does call into question Bob Iger's belief that there's no format war outside the US.

Though shop staff have an influence over what consumers buy, they're not the only source of information. There are a lot of other factors that will influence their buying decisions. It does seem that the war is on in Europe, though, whatever Disney's CEO believes.
