Ok first off if this has been posted before sorry. I did a small search and my issue I couldn't find.
OK now on to my thing. I have a Samsung BD-P1400. I have 16 BD titles so far. Now some titles like the one I just got Underworld Evolution loads perfect plays perfect and has an awesome responce time. Now others like a movie I just rented on BD "Bee Movie" loads up pretty well but stops after 3 1/2 minutes of play. I have the latest firmware june 20th. Now someone had said before I need to update my receiver (meaning get a better one) But most of my titles play perfect, some taking a bit to load but otherwise play fine. I guess my question is this why do most titles play good while others just don't want to cooperate with me (HP order of the pheonix doesn't want to play, while I just watched the eye and it played flawlessly.) Could there be some issue that the firmware is not addressing. What are you fellow fans thougths on this prolly common issue. Any help is thanked. |

Honestly, that's an odd situation. Bee Movie I could see having some issues still as its a fairly new title... but Harry Potter's been out awhile and any issues should have been addressed long ago with a firmware update. Normally these things are fairly easy to diagnose, but this one's not. If all titles stopped randomly, you could have an issue with the OPU. If only very recent titles had issues, it would be an obvious issue that a new firmware would fix. But I'm not sure what the issue is in this case.
I would definitely contact Samsung with a list of the titles that have issues, and see if they've gotten similar reports from other BD-P1400 owners or what they suggest. It may be some kind of hardware issue, but given the description, its really tough to diagnose. Of course, it could also be as simple as a bad disc in the case of Harry Potter. Too many possibilities for me to accurately diagnose. Sorry. |

When it looks like i having a problem with any disk i pull it out give it a gentle whip with velvet cloth.
Shut down all my equipment. Then turn tv on first ,reciever and blu-ray and start all over. It always works for me(i had to do that twice ,that i can think of.) Sometimes you might have to wait a little bit longer for it to load( it could feel like it takes forever)But good chances it will load. With a Brand new movie Good chance it being firmware issues Last edited by ozzman; 07-25-2008 at 11:30 PM. |

I have to do the same thing on some of the newer titles, particularly Fox and Warner. For some odd reason, there seems to be some kind of light goo on them, and if they aren't cleaned before playing, they'll suddenly stop or stutter like crazy. I take some distilled water and clean then and dry them well, and they play without a hitch. I have the Samsung 1000 btw. These are owned titles, not Netflix or Blockbuster rentals. And Harry Potheads were really bad at skipping and freezing before I decided to wash them. |

Well I will diff try the simple water trick and I have a mircofiber ag and I will try this out. However I've noticed that the titles that do this to me, they will stop and then I will take the disc out and retry to put it back in then the player wil say "unable to read disc" or "disc is not...... something or other" like that. I know its not my player just cuz like I said most of my titles play wihtout a problem I will look at the titles that do and see who they are buy maybe its as simple as the distributer that makes them is making bad BD. But please keep the ideas or thoerys coming or other thoughtcoming don't stop I'm a huge fan of bluray love thespics it has this isn't going to sway me away from it but it's very aggrivating. I'm sure I'm not the only one with issues.
