Default 605 question

I have my PC outputting analog signals to each of the 8 7.1 channels into the onkyo's analog inputs.
My problem is when I select dvd (which is what I have the PC connected to on the onkyo right now) it defaults to DSP Dolby Digital Plx

Sometimes that goofs up and it doesn't go to the proper channels

When I put it on Multichannel it seems to sound better...

What exactly do I have to do to get it to go to the proper channels?
what are the proper channels?

The Soundcard I have outputs full HD audio, through the individual 7.1 channels, its configured correctly, as far as I know. When the reciever is set to multichannel, my computer can access all 7.1 channels, but on dsp it can only access 2 in the tests...

any ideas on how I can change it to default to multichannel? and what listening mode is best?
i have the option for direct or just multichannel?

I think it may be a compatibility issue with your soundcard

It's supposed to go into Multichannel. I don't know enough about the 606's operation to tell you how to get it to go to multichannel. With my Yamaha - I have it set up as multichannel in on DVD (that's where my PC input is also). When I want to hear the PC, I must press the multi-channel button on my remote. I assigned multichannel to the DVD input in the setup.

P.S.Your sound card is fine and doing exactly what its supposed to do.

If you want to hear regular DPLIIX or DTS (regular) or other DSP modes, connect a secondary optical cable to the dvd optical in. Unless you hit multichannel it will deliver sound from the optical.

that's what I've been doing, I haven't bothered with a second input, if I switch from multichannel to the regular dvd input, it only picks up the left and right channels, and i can use the dsp modes, so i switch when im watching stereo tv or just listening to music...
