Default How much do you pay for HD Cable?

Hello,

I am thinking of getting HD Cable. I already have an HDTV and all that. I have just been holding out awhile because NetFlix and blu-rays have been keeping me busy. However, I'm a huge college football fan and would like to have cable for the season.

I went to my account on time warner cable and clicked add services to see the rate for digital hd cable (it is the same rate with or without hd). It says to upgrade to that it would $70 a month. This seems absurb to me. I have seen adds both online and on tv that say they offer hd cable for $50 a month for 12 months. What gives? Just for reference, if any of you have TWC HD cable, how much do you pay?

thanks for the help, i just don't want to get ripped off!

$100/month. I just always feel with cable that I'm being screwed. Kinda like TW just slipped me a roofie and I woke up naked with my wallet missing.

$100, holy crud batman. Do you all have a bunch of premium channels or something or do you just live in a high cost of living area?

I live in South Carolina where living expenses are low. I didn't know if cable price changed on location though like rent and gas, etc. I suppose that it does though.

Smile $0 at the moment

I have had HD satellite (Dish Network) in the past, and it was around ~$60/month, but I had no premium channels.

I wanted some HD content, so I decided to have a large antenna installed in my attic. I get 6 free local feeds of HD channels - ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, and WMYV. That's enough. With satellite/cable I felt it was a waste of money to pay for something that is not tangible (unlike Blu-ray).

Between free HD, Blu-ray and the PS3 games I play I don't have enough time to use it all anyway!

thats pretty cheap

I am currently on promotion

about $55 after tax/fees for

Encore, HD Package, 1 HD box, 1 standard Box, 5mbps Internet (but its actually rated at 16 when the technician came and he was like, whoa, nice, free 15 mbps upgrade).

However, in March 2009, it will be raised to original price of about $110 after tax/fees.

I am planning on threatening to cancel the Comcast so that they'd give me another promotion, since I am in the area where Verizon Fios is being offered~

$0.

I don't care for television.

I pay Comcast something crazy for cable internet though and they pump in lots of basic cable with HD channels but I'm not billed for it (perse) and I don't have it hooked up. Last time I "tuned in" was for coverage of a Space shuttle disaster and then I found I prefer internet news coverage better anyway.

I do rent some TV series on Disc from Netflix though (no commertials, watch the episodes all at once or whatever)... so I guess if you want consider whatever the cost of my Netflix subscription is. I think it's under $20/Month.

Okay I think some of you may have been posting the rate you pay for HD cable and High Speed online all in one. I am just looking for the rate for HD Cable. it looks like it is going to cost me $69 a month just for hd cable. I already pay $47 a month for road runner.

Default HD Channels PQ

Can anyone tell me how the PQ on HD channels for cable compares to that of satellite? To date, the only HD Channels I have seen were on the Dish Network and they didn't look all that good to me. Better than SD for sure, but still not all that great. I have been told cable looks better (that they don't compress as much), but wanted your opinions too,

thanks.

I have heard this from others. So that means you have allot of digital channels and possibly some analog ones as well in the standard tier channel bundle?? How do NON-HD channels display PQ wise on your HD TV??

Anyone else??

I pay, no joke, $6 bucks a Month for HD cable.

Charter was running a promotion where I could upgrade my Internet and only pay $14 for it. I did that. I was paying another $80 for all the HD they offered. I went in to cancel everything but the internet, and they informed me that it would cost $40 for Just internet.

Then she did some looking and I was able to keep my Internet deal, and then downgrade my HD to a few movie chanels + networks, and pay $45.99 so I took it.

The best way to save money is to tell them you intend to cancel, and mean it.
