It looks like a lot of fun and the extras look impressive! It's quite a steal at $29.95, as that's a full $20 below the price of the two other upcoming Cinerama titles.

It's a definite pick-up for me, but I'm surprised that it apparently isn't a Flicker Alley release. Also curious to see it as a limited release. Any background on this?

Weird that Flicker Alley isn't releasing this one, as they've done all the other Cinerama titles.

This looks interesting, but I'm not fond of that smilebox, since I don't have a curved screen!

Redwind Productions is Brian Jamieson, one of the principals of Twilight Time, which probably explains the SAE connection.

Dave Strohmaier (the main man behind the remastering of the Cinerama titles) has clarified that the 2000 number is the amount of the first pressing. Unlike TT titles, if these sell out they can print up another batch.

Isn't the smilebox designed for flat screens, to reproduce the effect of a curved screen that Cinerama was designed for? The pinched center of the image approximates the fact that the middle of the screen should be smaller because it's farther away. Seems like not having a curved screen would be a good thing for watching this BD.

Exactly.

Smilebox is designed to get the maximum Cinerama image onto a flatscreen. If you had a curved screen, Smilebox would be a liability.

I'm not really a big fan of Smilebox but I understand why it's a reasonable option for the display of Cinerama movies.

From the included Trailers, can Golden Head be far behind.

Getting Russian Adventure out would be nice as well.

I just got a shipping notice email from SAE that my copy shipped! I almost forgot about this one coming out. Should be a lot of fun to watch.

I think I understand the need for Smilebox now:
