With DLC from T.V shows to movies they really need to upgrade the HD and give new owners a chance to actually buy something from Sony after they buy the system. Bundle a new SKU with SOCOM or LBP which are certain system sellers and have enough to go around like ship 200,000 to stores every week for the holiday season and the PS3 will be in the lead in less than two years.
What do you guys think? as much as we have heard this rumor and commented on it we really never needed more than 80 but now that Sony is actually adding services to the PS3 we are in need. Plus it give more value to system so they can compete with the 360 |

I could have sworn that I saw something about Sony releasing a 120gb sometime later this year or next year. I can't remember where I read it from though. Supposedly the 80gb is getting hard to find because they're discontinuing it? Who knows?

Increasing hard disc size depends on how much cost it would add to the system. At some point the price of a 160GB 2.5" SATA drive should fall down to around what Sony is currently paying for 40GB or 80GB drives.
For high capacity, such as 250GB or more, I think end users will just have to upgrade their systems on their own. I haven't tried swapping the 80GB drive in my PS3 for something larger. From what I've read about the upgrade process it looks pretty easy. Unscrewing the existing drive out of the system without stripping the screw heads seems to be the hardest part. |

Can someone point me to where an online walkthrough is, on doing a HDD upgrade. Mine is fuller than I would like and isnt as fast loading as it could be. Is there a problem with heat build up adding bigger faster, or are there restrictions on what HDD's would work?

I don't understand why Sony is discontinuing the current SKU's. It doesn't seem fair to us. I mean, some of the SKU's have been on the pricey side and just when we save up enough money, the one that we want is gone. I think that Sony should have keep on SKU's at least in stock. What they could do is archive several SKU's so that if one is needed, then it can be obtained. The only SKU that never sold very well was the 20 GB and I can totally understand why Sony scrapped that one, but the 60, 80, and 40 GB models should all be around. Archive the 60, but keep the 80 and the 40 around. We don't make the rules, but is just doesn't seem fair to us as consumers.

And with in-game music coming in the future - I have added a lot of music (plus, it's nicer than streaming sometimes - my wireless cuts out once in a while). |
