Default PS3: Upright or Flat?

Curious. Who has their PS3 upright like the commercials? Who lays them flat like traditional players?

I keep mine flat in my entertainment center. There is plenty of "breathing room" so it stays cool. I think it looks cool standing up though.

I used to have mine upright but now have it flat because that's the way it fits on my TV stand. One thing I've found is that the fan is on high much more since I have laid it flat. I think I actually read an article online that says the PS3 is actually cooler in the horizontal position, but the fan has to work much harder.

In my experience with consoles flat is always the safest way to lay them IMO.

Vertical gives slightly better ventilation in most situations, but flat is more stable (important if you have young childred or pets) and likely to be better for the Blu-ray drive in the long run.

My TV stand is not well ventilated, so my ps3 is standing uprigh just next to the stand.

How comes?

I have mine vertical at uni and horizontal at home...Havent noticed any differences whatsoever either way (except the back connections are easier to get to if its vertical)

Mine is upright to conserve space. Though I don't keep mine in the TV stand, but standing next to it.

what i was saying is its better for any system to read the disc flat then vertical and also having it vertical and also even hurt the disc by a little tiny bit (of course its not noticable and with Blu-ray and its scratch resistant coating helps but not scratch proof) *note this is what i was told when i had mine as vertical and then i automatically put it flat and its actually now easier to put discs in my ps3 without it dropping

Mine is upright on a table with a speaker. This is temporary until I get my new entertainment center, and then it will be flat with the rest of the components of my set up.
