Default PS2 game Compatibility issue

Anyone else think that Rocky Legends runs like crap on ps3? The game is loaded with bugs and glitches. In Drago's training rounds, the screen flickers violently. Also, sometimes you can see "cracks" in the characters polygons, and various other graphical errors. I know that for the longest time, this game was on the unsupported PS2 title list, but subsequent updates have fixed most of the major problems(it's come quite a long way), only it seems that the progress of updating compatibility with this game has gone MIA in the long stream of recent updates. Honestly I could really could care less about the XMB. I know that Sony never promised that ps3 would ever have 100% compatibility with all ps1/ps2 titles, but it would still be nice.

That is something that we are going to have to live with, i'm afraid. My local Gamestation now knows me as Mr 'Regular Regular' due to me bringing back PS2 games that don't work on the European 60 Gig PS3.

And before some gentleman jumps in and says 'Use the compatabiliy list', i would like to say that i do and it is wrong some times. Spiderman 2 and Wipeout 3 are a couple of titles that should play and don't.

Still, i bought POTC: Jack Sparrow for £2.50 and it runs just fine, so no complaints, i guess. it's not as if PS2 games break the bank...

shadow of the collosus is amazing on ps3, after you enable progressive scan from the menu and it is upscaled the game looks a treat

Yep, had no issues whatsoever with SotC, just as well as it's one of the few games I return to.

Things like GOW and SoTC are very recent PS2 titles though and both made by Sony. Unfortunately, only Japan and USA got 100% compatible machines. Luckily, I own one of them, just because my PS2 era was living in the States and all my games are NTSC.

Has anyone found if Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence works without issues on the 60GB units? Even tho' the Compatibility Listing on Sony's website says it has no issues, I did experience a problem. I was playing it the other day and it froze during the video where Naked Snake is conversing with Major Zero while he's getting ready to be launched in his drone for the beginning of Operation Snake Eater. I tried it out on my venerable slim PS2 and it worked fine, so I just saved the game and then brought it back over to the PS3.

Yeah, a lot of games that Sony's website say have no problems do. I had the same problem with Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. Couldn't play it at a certain point on the PS3. Man, if MGS3 has issues, might need to keep my Ps2 after all...

The only PS2 games I've played on my 80GB (GoW2 and SOTC) I was able to complete without any problems.

I have the 60 GB version and play ESPN NFL 2K5 and GTA:SA on it at times and they never gave me problems.
