Question Does your wife/partner/GF play any part in your buying

Are you a selfish bastard and only buy movies for yourself or does your partner have any say in what you buy?

My wife and I more or less perform our own movie purchasing, but we always secure "approval" first. If I see a title in which I'm interested, I make sure it's all right for me to purchase it; my wife runs her purchases by me first, as well. We've found that this compromise system works pretty well for both of us, so we continue to adhere to it.

If you don't mind me asking why do you both seek approval? Is it due to violent content or something?

My missus will watch movies with me but is not interested in watching movies more than once with the odd exception of the LoTR trilogy or Harry Potter which she loves. If its a violet or horror movie she just won't watch it but I am a horror fan so it would be difficult for me not to watch them.

I am a romantic fool and enjoy movies like Love, Actually, Notting Hill, The Holiday, etc., so my wife (she will be in 19 days) enjoys that I buy movies both of us can enjoy.

As for the whole Blu-ray thing, when she bought me Planet Earth for my birthday last year the future became wide open.

We both thoroughly enjoy the stuff like Galapagos, etc., as well.

Congrats on becoming "institutionalized"

My wife likes to "watch" movies.... but doesn't like that I buy them....... Obviously the 1,200 or so DVDs are a sore subject around the house!!!!!! Now with Netflix, it really bothers her when I buy some movies! She doesn't mind as much as long as I wait for a good sale.

Default Funny that you asked this question..

When my wife and I watch a movie in theaters she usually announces at the end of the movie if she wants it as a purchase. At the end of Ironman she yelled out "We have to get that on Blu ray" and a few people chuckled. I do buy most of our Blu rays but she picks up ones she wants if she's out shopping too.

I am happy to say that my wife doesn't care what I buy as long as I don't go overboard with my Blu-ray montly purchase.
My tatse in movies diiffer alot from my wife but movies she have never heard of she would sit down and look at it with me and if she do or doesn't like it she will let me know for sure.

My wife is a huge fan of movies, like myself, but she isn't into buying them the way I do. She's more into the movie-theater-with-the-large-crowd experience. Although she also enjoys watching movies at home, she rarely, if ever, demands the purchase of any movies.

In our four years together she has been nothing but supportive of on my purchasing of movies. But occasionally there will be a Blu-Ray that she really wants and I have NO objections to that. Batman Begins and Pan's Labyrinth are just a couple that she has stated that she wanted.

Of the 9 BD's I own, two of them were actually a birthday gift from my girlfriend. They were actually movies that she loved that she thought I would enjoy, which I do. I never actually considered owning them (unless I ever found them in the cheap bin at Wal-mart for like $5), but I definitely do not regret it. I have no objection to buying BD's of movies she may enjoy.

My wife will buy movies for herself sometimes, as will I often. But movies we've seen together and liked (or both want to see) we agree on and get. I often make pics on what I think my wife will like and/or understand as well (being that English isn't her native language). So features like subtitles can effect a purchase as well.

I am gay and have a boyfriend and he doesn't play any part in my buying because he likes every genre. So he'll watch almost anything.

I buy everything I want and I buy extra movies that I necessarily don't like or will never watch for the g/f. I like having a big movie collection for both of us to look through.
