Default Vaio PCG-3B1M HDMI OUTPUT PROBS,

as im a newbie had no idea where to put this, so soz to admin in in wrong place.

I am asking on behalf of a freind,

Quote:
I was wondering if anybody could help me out.I have just bought a blu-ray disc to try out.I put it in my computer and it works and plays the disc. Now this is where I have the problems.I have a hdmi output on laptop to connect to tv.If I connect it I can see my desktop on the tv which works fine. But if I go to play the blu-ray to watch on the tv it starts then stops and says that the external device doesn't support disc format.
This is the bit I dont understand.I have set up as said im manual,my tv is hd compatable so dont know whats going on.
I am thinking that the computer is thinking I am trying to connect to a device to record it.
Anybody shed any light on this?

Model of TV would help.
If the TV/HDTV does not support HDCP(protection) then it will fail to play the disc.

have you tried setting the video output to match your TV, a lot of HDTV only
support 720p
Maybe your graphics card is sending out a higher res then your monitor could support. If you have an ATI or Nvidia card check in the settings panel for HDTV modes.

make sure that when you press Fn+F7 you select the one that turns the screen on the laptop off... that should do the trick
