XMB Question - Blu-ray Forum

Hi Gang,

Would somebody tell me how to access the XMB during gameplay or a movie?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Well if you have 2.40 downloaded, then you can press the PS button to go into the in game XMB. You can't do that in the middle of a movie though.

you can use the xmb during a movie you always could i do it all the time with my movie files off my hd or streamed through my pc.

dunno about blu-ray movies i haven't tried that

nope. not on Blu-rays. you can only access it from HDD movies. that doesn't really make much sense when i think about it.

even if you dont have 2.4 you can acess the XMB on videos on the hard drive, the internet, and i think the ps store.

Just hit the PS button on the middle of the controller. aparently only certain titles will perform this task and i can't speak for movies. i know it works for hot shots and Super Startdust HD...

but if you hold it down (it being the PS button) you will be taken to the change controller menu of yore....

so far, I haven't used the XMB... but maybe it will become useful for me... the trophies will be cool....

I've tried the PS button on maddden but it just takes me to the quit game screen.

2.40 was out for about a day, before it got yanked, you probably missed it, so you cannot access the XMB in-game.

It should be back out this week.

Sounds like you havnt got 2.40 it was out for download on the 2nd july but got pulled coz it was bricking PS3's you will have to wait for 2.41 rumored to be out this week

there was a new firmware update last week that enabled ps3 owners to do this, however, it was quickly pulled after reports of bricking consoles. check your firmware number in your system and if it's not 2.40, a fixed 2.41 should come mid week and you'll be able to do this.
