PS3 XMB issue - Blu-ray Forum

I have had my PS3 for a year now and just over the last week or two when stopping POTC - At Worlds End movie and NCAA 2008 college footbal game, my TV will go to a black screen instead of the XMB screen that it always went to before- More often than not it goes back correctly to the XMB, but has not a few times in the last week. When it does this, I have to turn my PS3 off and then back on again before it will work. Anyone else experience this and anyone know what may cause this?

I have a Vizio TV that occasionally when I turn off a BD movie the screen will go blue and search for the video source for a few seconds. A few times I have had to turn off my TV to get back to the XMB. I never had a problem with the Sony TV I had before my Vizio.

Bottom Line, I think its the TV not the PS3.

that may be, but if I put in another movie or something, I can wait a few minutes and no sound will come out of my home theater speakers at all. I dont think the TV going back correctly would have anything to do with sound too

I'm encountering this a little bit on my 80gb PS3 and I honestly think it is an HDCP/HDMI issue with the receiver, because when the movie ends and it attempts to switch back to the XMB, the input indicators on my receiver go blank, meaning it is no longer handshaking/communicating with the device.

Just my opinion, of course. Not a technical wiz and I can't substantiate. I have an Onkyo 804 if that helps for reference. TV is a Sony KDS-50A2020.
