I was just observing the highest grossing movie list and realized that of the top 50 world wide highest grossing films of all time, 30 are already out, announced or rumored to be out by the end of the year. There is a vocal crowd on here that complains about the lack of titles but for a format that is barely 2 years old studios are moving pretty quick. And of those other 20 that aren't announced, Mr Lucas and Mr Jackson could knock 9 of that list real quick if they truly wanted.

i kind of wish some of the older movies or at least ones from studios that are not as big would release more movies. theres only maybe just a few new catalog titles that i might be interested in but i think 2009 is going to be more like the year i would really get to buying blu-ray movies when they are not releasing as many blockbuster movies and get to more like tv shows and movies that are like 5 years old.

This is a great post. This is a clear indication of how far the popularity of blus are progressing and catching on with the general public. Hopefully, by 2009, the remaining movies on this list will be released. It's a real confident booster.

I didn't count Finding Nemo & Indy 4 since they didn't have a release date. I thought it would be cool to list the top 50 worldwide & top 50 US all time box office lists so people could see the titles. I agree we're headed in the right direction. When the Spielberg & Lucas films hit it will be great for hidef movies. I can't wait! |
