I was looking at a couple of big case fans (120mm) to put in my stand to help circulate the air around the receiver... it's not a huge issue but I just want to keep it at a reasonable operating temperature... anyways, I'm curious if anyone can show me a way to wire them for outlet power... a cost effective way. Thanks

If you get 120mm fans that run at 120VAC, you could plug them into your power conditioner then use 12VDC triggers to turn them on and off, or if your receiver has switched outlets on it you can plug them into those outlets and they would turn on and off with the receiver.
Give me some some time and what you are connected electrically and i could design something for you. The only problem I see is 120mm 120VAC fans are a little noisy and introduce noise (RFI and EMI) onto the neutral of the electrical system. It would be better to have them on a seperate ckt. Sometimes passive cooling is better in the long run compared to active cooling with fans. |

well its really just for use in the summer... but the fans i was looking at are these ones but I would be open to other suggestions. my main issue is how to wire something like this to run off outlet power (and i will be using an old power conditioner that is seperate from what all my other equipment is plugged into) I'm not too worried about the noise of the fans because they will only be on when i'm watching a movie and so if theyre a bit noisy i will only hear it during scenes with no sound (noise floor and whatnot) the other option i was looking at is something like this or this
