I have two PS3s. And I watch all my bluray media on those, but my uncle who is 73 years old was over and was really impressed so he asked me if I could set one up for him but he absolutely doesnt want a Playstation 3. So now I have the difficult task of picking out a good player for him and dont know what the hell to choose because I dont know anything because all I use is my PS3s. So my question is whats best for someone who isnt too good with a lot of buttons and complications and is easiest to use. I need a player that works well and plays all the movies without hassle and stuff. So in your guys experience whats the best player or the easiest player that gives everyone an easy viewing experience aside from the ps3 of course.

No Players for Old Men.
(Just kidding... I say get a PS3. I use mine mostly for Blu Ray and I don't have to hit any "additional" buttons. I just put in a disc and it just starts.... at that point it's no more complicated than any other player) -Brian |

Try reading the original post. Get over the fact that you have a PS3 and try thinking about what would actually meet the person's needs.

I would agree the Sony or Panasonic would be very good choices. I have not heard about the new Sony's load time, I have heard the Panasonic is very good (but not PS3 good but close). Other then that it may just come down to how much he wants to spend. |

What will your uncle be using for the audio (just the HDTV's built-in speakers, a 5.1 channel surround sound system, etc.). The audio capabilites of the different BD players could be a factor that must also be consider.

Further more, I doubt he would understand the ethernet port for firmware updates. You will probably have to send him a disc from time to time AND hold his hand in explaining how it works. While I do not know your uncle I have been in I.T. a LONG time. There are some people I would never tempt with technology. Why? For EVERY LITTLE PROBLEM you become the "go to guy".
