Default JBL Venue Monitors?

My BestBuy has a 5.1 setup consisting of four JBL Venue Monitors and a Voice. The Monitors are about $90 a pair, and the Voice is about $60. This is a big discount, but my question is, are these speakers worth the money?

These are the speakers I currently have:
Onkyo SKS HT-540

And here are the JBLs:
Monitors
Voice

Spec-wise, the JBLs aren't a huge improvement, but Onkyo's FR figures don't make any indication of how strict they are: -3dB, -6dB, -9dB...I just don't know.

Any advice would be welcome. Unfortunately, I really have no way to test these things out unless I buy them and take them home, with the option of returning them.

I use the monitors as my 4 surround speakers in my 7.1 setup, and am pretty happy with the results. I found them to be a pretty good "bang for buck" option.

Just my 0.02....

I should note that I don't have any experience with the speakers you're currently running.

thx. The Onkyo system I currently have received rave reviews for its "bang for the buck" as well, so it seems like the monitors may in fact not be a significant upgrade, at least as main L/R speakers.

NP

I don't think I'd use them for the L/R.

I use the Stadium for that role.

While I find they sound good, I'm also a little concerned that they may be a little too "fragile" for spirited use.
