Default The Bear (1988) Any chance on this movie making it to Blu?

The Bear

I'm really hoping that this movie gets the Blu treatment.
It holds a special place in my heart and has amazing cinematography.
I'm not sure which studio currently owns the rights.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,
Zak

gorgeous movie. Would also love to see The Lover on blu-ray, from the same director.

Yes, "The Bear" was a gorgeous movie indeed. It was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud who also directed another of my favorite films, "Quest for Fire" as well as "The Lover" "Two Brothers," and "Seven Years in Tibet." I remember buying this title out of a Walmart discount bin a few years ago and it was labeled to have an anamorphic widescreen and pan and scan version of the film on the disc. Unfortunately, only the pan and scan version was included so I promptly sold it. Sony/Columbia distributed the film and it would be nice to see new life breathed into it on high definition.

There is another film of similar vintage, Disney's under-appreciated film, "Never Cry Wolf" starring Charles Martin Smith from "American Graffiti" and "The Untouchables." I would love to see the house of mouse polish that baby up along with "White Fang," which starred a very young Ethan Hawke. But one of the films that has received the most disrespect on home video has to be Carroll Ballard's majestic film, "The Black Stallion." Few films contain scenes of such visual beauty as the dance between the two castaways on the beach of the deserted island. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been released in anamorphic widescreen and the print was quite dirty, marring the gorgeous cinematography of Caleb Deschanel. I would rather see Fox release that MGM classic than most of its current output.
