Ok...I know there have been similar threads, but it always fun. What movie will be the biggest box office hit of 2009? (poll coming)

I'm hoping for either Harry Potter or Star Trek. Those seem like they have the best chance of being really good movies. Though I fear Potter is going to be slaughtered because of it's summer release date instead of the typical holiday dates previous installments have enjoyed. And I fear Star Trek will get ignored by most because it's, well, Star Trek.

But I'd settle for it being Watchmen. I don't really know much about the graphic novel, but it looks promising.

Sadly, if I wanted to be realistic I'd have to pick the plotless action of Transformers 2.

we talking domestic or worldwide??

transformers should have no problem topping the domestic box office, but the worldwide crown may be a show down between optimus prime and the wizard boy

It's definitely going to be Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. There are quite a few to give Transformers a run for it's money including Star Trek, Harry Potter, and Terminator.

While we are waiting for this big monster movies to be released, go see Coroline in 3D. This is some special movie.

Star Trek! Of course that's a completely biased personal opinion. I'm going to force my poor girlfriend to watch it with me. Hopefully 2 hours later she's still my girlfriend!

Based on the numbers the first one did, and the fact that they don't have to bog this one down with an hour of backstory, this one should kick some serious @$$.

Went to the first transformers with my gf talk about a good date movie lol hahahahaha she was covering her ears lol. can't wait to take her to this one!!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for sure with Watchmen hopefully being a close second and then Avatar. But Avatar might make more simply because the 3D tickets cost more.
