Default DSP setting for 705

I just bought 2 more speakers so i now have a 7.1 system. it is not the audiophile ideal set up but for my small living room it is perfect. 2 sony ss-f5000s fronts, sony cn-5000 center, 4 ss-1000s surrounds, and a sony 2500 sub. I wanted to know what DSP you guys are using, i like plIIx movie but i am not sure what to use for blu ray.

PLIIx is for converting two channels to 5.1 or 7.1. Don't use that for Blu-ray. Use Standard setting without DSP. Also read A Guide to Home Theater Audio Codecs for a better understanding of audio codecs.

Unless its a THX certified movie I run all my movies either under "direct" or "pure" mode. Does absolutely nothing to the sound, it plays it the exact way its being received.

edit: I do use THX mode on some sci-fi or other movies where the sound track was mixed at Skywalker Sounds.

Do you run "direct" for everything? TV, Gaming, Bluray, and DVD or mainly bluray because of the HD audio?

i read your write up and it was very informative, it looks like PLIIx converts stero or 5.1 to 7.1. I read on the AVS forum that this is the setting to use for tv. I did a test watching Hellboy on blu ray and i noticed that most settings do not run all the surrounds.
