Default Irritation in the trade forum

This isn't a big deal, but I kind of want to know why. Why is it so many people feel the need to let me know that they sold half their collection. Do you think this is going to make me want to buy your other movies or what? You're not a store. You're not temporarily out of stock. It's gone. How about instead of taking the time to highlight it, or put a line through it or simply type sold at the end... you press your backspace button. I don't give a $%#$ if you used to have I am Legend, and I doubt anyone else does either. It's not a huge deal, but it makes me wonder about these people.

Honestly it makes buyers more comfortable to see that you marked out the item they paid for and assures them in a sense that you are not ripping them off...

I think it's a bit of posterity. Used to be that this forum did not have trade ratings, and the only way to know, if someone was trustworthy was their reputation here. The good trader thread and the documented sales/trades in their own thread were the only way to know. I stopped posting sales/trades on my thread once the rating system became well established, but I did not delete what I had recorded in the thread.

I don't understand that argument. Send them a PM saying you sent them the item. How does a line through something tell the buyer that the seller is honest? There's no way to police this. If I wanted to I could rip lots of people off. If you don't live really close to me you aren't going to spend the money to do anything about it. It's the fact that people are mostly honest that trade forums can exist in the first place. Before the rating system most trading places i've been to just listed the people they had good trades with. I could post a new list and pretend to sell things and mark them as sold, so that argument just doesn't work.

But whatever, it just seems really silly to me.

I agree with you. Not complaining - I just find it kinda pointless and funny at the same time. Never did understand why people also had a list of items they traded off/sold. Lol.

I just recently started using the Trade Forum to pick up movies. Was there always a trading score, never really noticed until recently? Maybe it just a hold over from before then? Kind of letting people know who traded with them to build trust?

I like this theory. If I saw a bluray multiple times and sold it. I would not want to delete it off cause someone would try to sell or trade me the same blu.

Understandable, totally .The funniest thing I have seen is a legend/key is needed to navigate a trade thread

There was a moderated good traders thread where you would report other members as being good or bad traders. You might rip off a few, but you would be exposed. You simply can't protect yourself from every a-hole, you know. Anyway, the good trader thread was long and cumbersome. If you listed your good trades, one could easily search the good trade thread to find the positive reports of transactions. Listing the titles made a lot more sense when there were not so many titles available.
