Default HDMI cord question

So I have a PS3 and an up-convert DVD player. I don't want my son to use the PS3 for his movies (he's 4) so I bought him an up-convert DVD player.
My question is:
I pull out the HDMI cable from the DVD player and insert it into the PS3 almost on a daily basis. Does this damage the HDMI cable and/or port?

Well it will cause minor wear and tear on the plug, eventually it could cause a loose / poor connection.

agreed. A simple monoprice 2x1 switch works great. And pick up a few extra HDMI cables.
