Default Terrence Howard Responds to Iron Man Rhodey Replacement

I know threads have already been posted with the news of Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard in the next Iron Man, but here's an excerpt of Terrence Howard's reaction to the news via an NPR interview in case people are interested:

"It was the surprise of a lifetime," [Howard] said. "There was no explanation. [The contract] just...up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on, sometimes. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up."

I like Howard, but I also like Cheadle..I am not sure why the replacement is necessary...there is no upside or downside of this

Marvel and PAramount are thinking ahead. Cheadle can carry the Iron Man mantle, while Howard cannot.

Howard is not greedy. Listen to the interview. The man is truly one of a kind. He seems like a really cool person. I wish him nothing but the best.

all ill say is while i can definitely envision howard's war machine over cheadle's (and i really liked howard as rhodey), i'm holding off on final judgment until a trailer. i remember when WB announced heath ledger was playing the joker and everyone thought the role didn't fit him at all. we all know how that turned out.

in what way? No one, absolutely no one, had any problems with Howard getting the role years ago. I believe the character of Rhodes is to be younger and Cheadle looks to old to be playing a younger buddy of Stark and does not look like a military man and too old looking to be playing an Air Force Lt Col pilot. War Machine with Cheadle will never go beyound the Iron Man film series on it's own merit. Cheadle as a leading character or leading man never makes any money as his movie Traitor was a big role stretch for him and failed - even if Cheadle is a good actor.

i still say give the man a chance, and while i agree howard looked convincing as a military man and was an awesome rhodey cheadle can be a fantastic actor when the role calls for it. again, perfect example heath ledger. who knows what inner talent cheadle is hiding for a superhero movie

I didn't follow the comics much, did War Machine have a big spinoff on his own? Like as in maybe War Machine would eventually have his own movie.

This is the ongoing problem I see with movies. Studios caring more about bankable names to appease casual movie-going crowds rather than fans of the genre. This is why I still haven't seen Daredevil starring Ben Affleck or Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie because I just couldn't stomach seeing them in their roles. Wouldn't bother me one bit if an unknown played Warmachine in the next Iron Man movie sequel.

He had his own series but I think it was just a miniseries(could be wrong). Didn't follow the character much but don't think it would be big enough to have his own movie. In the comic tony originally wore the war machine armor anyway before Rhodes did.

They're both great actors, and I like them both in their numerous Oscar worthy roles, but I still think the Howard should have reprized his roles in this sequel. He just looks the part. Plus I don't even think he got enough airtime in the first one, so I was really looking forward to him playing a bigger role in the sequel. I guess now that will not be a reality.

Ben Affleck in Daredevil was not a good choice but Angelina Jolie did a fairly well job as Lara Croft. I enjoyed both of the Tomb Raider movies. As far as Howard and Cheadle, I just get annoyed when movies change out characters from the previous movie. Like Katie Holmes replaced with Maggie Gyllenhaal in the Dark Knight...it was just a different vibe. I dunno
