Terrence Howard is not pleased he was replaced in the "Iron Man" sequel over a reported salary dispute.
"Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice," the actor -- whose role was given to Don Cheadle -- tells Parade.com. "They didn't keep their word. They didn't honor my contract." Howard says producers didn't share the profits of the flick -- which earned over $318 million -- with most of the actors. "They produced a great bounty with the first one, but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in," he says. "They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow, from what I've been told. The only person who got a raise? "They did it with everyone but Robert Downey [Jr]," fumes Howard. "One of the things that actors need to do is always stick together: one for all, and all for one." Even though he's upset, he's not spilling any details from the anticipated sequel. "I've seen the script, I know what's going to happen -- but I'm not revealing anything. I believe in karma," he says. "When someone does something wrong, you don't have to get them back. Everything right will return the favor for you." He'll still watch the follow up -- which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke -- in theaters. "I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the movie. I want to see Don Cheadle become me. No, I want him to do better than me," Howard says. "That's what I really want to see. Don Cheadle was the reason I got 'Crash,' so I have a lot of love for him." http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/us-m...ce-howard.html |

Howard, should get over it. Maybe he things he was responsible for the success of the first film? IMHO, he was the worst part of the first movie. His acting skills are poor (my opinion, I am sure that we have some Howard faNBOYS

I really didn't see anything wrong with what he said. He was promised something and then that promise went unfulfilled. He's not wishing ill will towards Cheadle. The only thing he said that could be perceived as negative was when he talked about Downey Jr. and that actors should stick together. I don't have a problem with anything he said in that interview.

I love Terrence Howard. "Hustle & Flow" is one of my favorite movies, loved him in "Crash", and everything else he has been in. However, I disagree with his complaint at it's core. Most of the time actors are paid a set fee for their services and that fee is usually not based on what the movie makes at the box office. If that was the case he would owe the studio money for "Pride", "Idlewild" and a few other movies that didn't make back what the studio thought they would.
Now, if they actually promised him one thing and did another, then that is just not right. Last edited by connect42; 04-24-2009 at 01:16 AM. |

Bingo. They let him go cause he was the first to be signed for Iron Man, and his contract supposedly made him the highest paid actor in the film. Even higher than RDJ. Since they apperantly overpayed when signing him. That's why they didn't bring him back, cause they would have had to overpay him again.

Someone needs to let Terrence Howard know that he wasn't the star of Iron Man and he also did this to himself by wanting more money then anyone else.
So i have this to say Mr. Howard!?!? Blow your nose and wipe your eyes you little crybaby!!! Last edited by Galactus; 04-24-2009 at 01:57 AM. |

I don't remember anything about him being on Lost. I DO remember Harold Perrineau (Michael on Lost) getting mad about how they wrote him out of the show (before he came back) and talking about how the show was racist because of how they dealt with black characters on there (Eko's death, Michael's not having a final satisfying conclusion with his son on the show).

Wow...I see there's a lot of hate for this guy. I don't see where he said anything wrong. So his role wasn't that big in the first movie. I thought he did pretty much all that could be done with the material. There was nothing dynamic about the role at all. It was basic. Basically his character was a carpet to be walked all over and I think he took the footsteps quite well. Its not his fault that they agreed to pay a high salary for a small supporting role. If they didn't think he was worth it they wouldn't have agreed to it. He's a big name and they obviously wanted his name attached to the project.
Don't get me wrong, Howard is not the best actor on earth, but he's definitely competent and much better than he was early in his career. His performance in Dead Presidents, Crash, and Hustle and Flow were excellent. My biggest problem with all of the bashing of this guy concerns his statement about the contract. If you are contracted for one thing and its not fulfilled then you would be pissed too. What if you were offered a job and they told you that it paid $20/hr. and when you got your check it was $15/hr. I don't think any of you would be happy. If they were supposed to give him a chunk of the profits and didn't then the studio is in the wrong. Then, and this is pretty well known, they offered a low-ball figure for the sequel to him and other members of the cast. The offers had to be pretty insulting for so many actors to balk. Its not like it was just one or two. Nearly everyone complained. I'm sorry but that's not good business, and if you think he's wrong to be angry then I will assume that you also would do that sort of thing to your employees. Greed is a bad thing. Its easy to point the finger at the actor and call him greedy for wanting more, but when the corporations are raking in this sort of cash and refuse to fulfill their agreement...key word...agreement...then who's the villain then? If Howard is lying about his contract not being fulfilled then that negates everything I've already said, but ask yourself...why would he lie about it? He's done so many movies he certainly doesn't need the money. I'm sure he wanted to reprise his role and he was offered it. They obviously didn't want to fulfill his previous contract nor did they want to pay a reasonable sum for an expanded role in the sequel. If you don't like him as an actor that's understandable. There are many actors that people like whom I despise. Whatever floats your boat...but from everything that has come out its the greedy corporation that's in the wrong from where I sit. A man's word is everything and a deal is a deal and it appears they broke it. |
