One Armed Boxer Released In Japan - Blu-ray Forum

The classic Golden Harvest film, One Armed Boxer starring Wang Yu is getting Blu ray release in Japan on the 12th of February. The interesting thing is that it lists an English dubbed track as well as the usual Mandarin and Japanese dub. No English subtitles as usual. Probably a Fortune Star upscale but you never know.

I knew about this one coming, but didn't know about the English dub. It'd be nice to see a legit HD transfer, but the odds are definitely against that.

I remember when Dragon Dynasty had plans for a US DVD (right down to having a clip on, I believe, One Armed Swordsman), but I think another US company may be releasing on DVD sometime soon... can't say much more

I would love to see this on BD, with a true 1080p HD transfer, with mono Mandarin audio, & good English subs. I've seen MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE, but never ONE-ARMED BOXER.

Would be nice to have this & MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE. Yeah, I know. Keep dreaming.

Hmm, may consider picking this up. Is CDJapan the cheapest place to get this, with shipping to the U.S?

Edit - Looks like YesAsia has the cheapest price, with free shipping. HMV.co.jp is the 2nd cheapest.

How is the quality of the English audio? The same company (Paramount) released One-Armed Boxer on DVD years ago, and the English audio was apparently out of sync and poor quality...

I have the Fortune Star remaster, and it has the same features... Picture is great, Eng dub was 2.0 mono and the Chinese track was DTS. No Eng. subs.

Caps. It's upscale HD, not true HD... though from Fortune Star that's to be expected. The English dub is as flat as you'd expect, but seems to be in better sync with the video than I remember my old anamorphic DVD being (I recall it falling out of sync a lot).

I just received this disc. Not bad even if upscaled; Fist of Fury was far worse. The Japanese releases are far superior to any of the U.S. releases of these titles. The Eng dub makes it a purchase.

Still, no takers, on this release I see. Well I enjoy it, and if they ever release MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE, I'd be one happy camper.
