Default If your PS3 got stolen!!!!!!

Would the thief be able to download stuff on PSN from my account? I have absolutely no protection on my PS3 and I don't know if what protection there is, is safe enough to feel insured that nobody could get on it.

Whats your thoughts?

As long as they have an internet connection and you've purchased things from your PSN account and you have it automatically set to login to PSN with your password saved.

I have mine set so anytime anything is purchased you have to reenter the password.

Yikes, my PS3 was bought used and I can't even change the password on the security part of it. I'm still in contact with the previous owner though so hopefully its the old one he used. Its not 0000.

How do you change the buying part of it so that it requires a password?

Thanks,

Richard.

I would imagine if your account is stored then they could.

I would also guess that if they did download something using your account then their IP would be able to be tracked by Sony and they could pass it on to the authorities to track down the theif.

Since I never bought anything yet... I don't think any of my credit card info is on mine.

So,.. I hope that means that shouldn't happen.

I would be pretty upset if my PS3 was stolen though... Or worse,.. My Blu Rays.

OK done that, but anyone can change the option since it logs me in straight away. Does anyone know how to change the option so that when you go to login it requires a password there as well. I've tried everything but struggling here.

Thanks in advance.

I worked it out now. You click triangle on yourself in your own friends list. I knew I'd seen the PSN logon screen before but now I realized I only see it when I get booted. This is the first time I've seen it through proper use hehe.

Ok, now i'm safe. Someone needs to get my password to get into the system now, and also they have to know the same password even if its left signed on to buy anything. I think i'm safe now.

Thanks guys, you never can be too safe.

Rich,

Now that you've got this taken care of,.. how about some details of you setup? What room do you keep your Ps3 in and are you going on vacation anywhere interesting soon?

First I've heard of this "stealing" concept too. Sounds interesting, rather then buying what I want, I can just go and take it for free. That's fantastic! Why does anyone buy anything?

I've gotten mine stolen before. Subcontractors through home depot came out to put insulation in the attic of the house and stuff. I came home and seen that it was missing and my parents didn't even notice till I said it. I got it back 3 days later. Security camera's turned out to be a good investment LOL

ummm....I'm 99.997% sure that even if you have auto sign in on and your credit card stored anytime you buy something you still have to enter your password..also if you try to get into the menu to look at the account information you have to enter the password. You're fine

Yeah. Called the contractors company, the cops, and home depot. I gave a video to the cop and he contacted the contractor company and told them we got the guy on video. They told the guy who stole it this, then he admitted it and turned it in to them. A few bd's and games were missing so they compensated me for them. I freaked though the first day, hoping he wouldn't log in and start buying stuff on the store. I have a friend who worked at home depot at the time this happened and my story spread around the whole place too. So, it got resolved pretty quickly thankfully.
