Must be "friends of friends", these types of crimes are usually very easy to find the smart offenders..

Technically can't you find something like that with the MAC address?

I mean if he knew what the MAC address was on his PS3 then the local ISPs can check their networks to see where it is connected, check who owns the IP address, and you catch the crook.

Of course I doubt law enforcement would go to such lengths for a stolen PS3. But maybe if the boy was the Director of the NSA's son.

He shouldn't even need to know the MAC if they try and use his PSN account, which they my very well be lame enough to do.

Two things, notice that it says that it didn't specifically say in the report that it was a PS3 or Xbox 360 that was taken, that was an assumption taken by the writer. The second thing is that the writer forgot to mention that the Wii was left behind.

Probably, but they won't. My brother's Defender 90 was stolen last year and Sirius Radio told him they could locate it... but wouldn't, not without a court order. Lame.

As for this kid, it was probably his older brother's friends. This is what he gets for hogging the consoles.

Not only that, but where the hell were the parents? If someone broke into my house intent on attacking my kids, I'd be on them before they crossed the threshold.

Seriously, I enjoy the 2nd Amendment to protect myself and, more importantly, my PS3

Who says camping is a bad thing? I'm just waiting on d-bags like this to show up trying to take my crap. Get a job and earn it, punks.
