Default What kind of Media Rack do YOU have?

Im lookin to buy a new Media Shelf, right now Im using some wicker one my mother gave me when I moved into my Apt. Looks really cheap..and prolly is.

I was lookin @ this one from awhile back:

But I realized I dont want alotta space showing between the shelves. Id like something where I can adjust the shelves to drop down to fit the height of that row of cases perfectly.

I'd have Blu's, 360 and DVD Cases. And theyre all different heights.

Any suggestions?

I thought I remembered that it is..hence the amount of holes on the sides...

I dont like the fact that the movies are tilted tho..I want a straight row. Its prolly just the way they places the rods...Im sure it wouldnt be a problem.

I like the fact that you can stack these as well. I think up to 4 racks

I have 2 Billy shelves from Ikea with the optional glass shelves. Very sturdy and nice looking.

those are awesome. How much are they a piece?
Can you get them in the same size, but horizontal instead of vertical?

Right now I have one of these, but I'm thinking of getting another one for when the first one is full. I have a small collection, nothing like posted above, so they work for me. Ikea Benno shelving.

I have one that my dad and I built. We made it floor to ceiling, comes out 5 1/2 inches from the wall and will hold up to 1,500 dvd's/blurays. Total cost was 110.00. After looking at all the ones being sold they wanted to much money for so little storage.

Here's a link to the pics. There are some pics of our home theater too I believe.

I just went a bought two boxes of heavy duty Tyvek sleeves, put them in a large notebook binder designed to hold them, and got the heavy-duty inserts to put all the paper that comes in the Blu-Ray plastic boxes.

I have over 60 movies in it, and it's half-full. Takes up no space at all, no walls covered with boxes, no big shelves.

Some folks like to display their movies, but I just like to watch them. You can leaf through the book, find a movie, in no time at all.

I like to display mine. Take a look at the link I posted. Mine takes up about 5 1/2 inches out from the wall. I put it there because I didn't need anything else on that wall and I have plenty of room in that area for my pool table and Foosball table.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing since I have other things in my Lounge that are taking up alot of space. OP, right now, I have mine in these:

Shelves are adjustable. Gott'em here:
Sauder @ Walmart

I'll also second the Billy bookcases from Ikea. My 14 yr old daughter uses those for her DVD's and Blus too.

This is mine so far. I will eventually build a 5" deep wall cabinet to hold all my Cult Classic figures and then add another shelf to this cabinet.I'm in the processes of building two more, then I'll have three base cabinets under them with a granite top. They will span the back wall of my room. I'm in the middle of upgrading my theater room, but it's slow going between work and the weather(rain every weekend). I've built a wall shelf above my entertainment center to hold most of my collectibles(horror mostly).

Still has to be painted and trimmed out. But like I said, everything's getting backed up because of all the rain lately.

I did, and it looks excellent. My problem is I have two HT setups - a 70" Sony and a bunch of Definitive gear in my living room, and a 52" and Sonus Faber/Vienna Acoustics stuff in the family room. The family room is mostly regular TV watching, but I have a HTPC in there with Blu-Ray in it. Doesn't leave room for bookshelves, if I'm going to have any other furniture in either room.

I can just grab the binder and go from room. It's easier to manage, basically, and I don't wind up with blu boxes all over the joint.

For dedicated home theaters, I think the bookshelf solution works fine, but they take a lot of room to do right. Yours was done right, no question.

I see your point when you're going between 2 HT's. That would make things easier. Glad you like my setup. My dad is especially proud of it.

I've been caught with a saw in one hand, and a hammer in the other, more than once. Looks like your Dad gets better results than I do.

Looks like he's been around the block with his toolbox a few times. Guys like that are good to have around when you get past the concept stage, if you know what I mean.
