If you will be in California or any other state in which there are "Fry's Electronics" locations, I would start there. Their prices and selection are really terrific. If you are gonna be here for a week or two, I would order online from Family Video since they are hands down the cheapest online retailer. They also have retail locations throughout the country. Tthe largest retailer of Blu-ray media throughout North America happens to be Best Buy. Unfortunately their name is a misnomer since their prices are high and selection is low.

If you are going to be in Hollywood or San Fran, check out Amoeba Music.
I love that store and would just fly in to go shop all day! Found so many records that I have not been able to get anywhere else and really good pricing. They also had an insane amount on foreign DVDs. Last time I went was end of 2006, so no Blu-ray, yet. However they have a release list on their website and it mentions BDs ... if unsure, just give them a call before you go down there. http://www.amoeba.com/ |

Amoeba Music in SF has a decent selection of Blu-rays, as does Virgin Records and Best Buy (also SF), but their prices are high. (Amoeba is even higher than BB.) If you will be in Berkeley (just across the bay from SF), be sure to visit Rasputin Records--their BD selection is pretty decent (they also have a fair selection of used BDs) and their prices are about $3 less than Best Buy. (I visit them every day, since I work just a couple of blocks away.
