Default The Olympics Megathread.

I'd thought I'd do a thread on quite possibly the most important sporting event in history. Yup, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We'll talk about the opening ceremony, the competitors, the events, any records being smashed, whatever Olympics related.

Im watching the Opening Ceremony right now. Quite possibly the trippiest thing I have ever seen in my life. I am really excited for the weightlifting, wrestling, and gymnastics.

The time difference is going to really make these olympics suck. Im sure they will time delay it but always somewhere they will blast all the final results after the event takes place and ruin any chance of watching it.

That's been the scenario for several Olympics. SOMEONE will always suffer from this, as there is always a developed country 12 hours away from where the Olympics are being held.

I don't think it make the Olympics suck, by any means. My sole concern is for censorship.

Did you see me here saying and demanding them to change it, i know it's a impossible to please everyone type situation? And sorry to me it sucks, why the hell do i want to watch a basketball game or soccer match when i already know the results of the match, hence why i said they will suck!

The 2008 Olympics: a special moment for the world and real boost for HD. I hope blu-ray delivers on a full spec BD50.

The 2008 Olympics in HD, what do you think so far. The opening ceremony was fantastic, a colorful window to so many things China - a moment when our differences brought us together. I thought the HD picture was great.

I hope when Blu gets around to it, they will provide the Games in full spec BD50.

Yeh, I know what you mean when it does not have the look and feel of film, but it is still impressive. Is it just me, but I feel like I am spending more time watching ads, then the games.

So what sport are you most interesting in seeing? I will concede women's beach volleyball is high on the list.

I did. Don't know how to get it off the box though. Was looking for a way to do that last night.

I have to say, if the opening ceremony did nothing for you in hd - there is something wrong with your eyes. Even in SD the opening ceremony should have blown you away!

I have to admit that it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Too bad I had to watch commercials every 10 minutes.

What bothered me (I thought it was pre recorded) they would come back from commercials and say, "While you were away we've moved to more modern times..."

Why not continue where we left off. I would like to see this on blu to enjoy it in it's entirety.

Yeah, as much as I want to see the Olympics, I protest the very idea of commercials. I buy my TV shows on DVD and I listen to Sirius radio. I will not sit through a single commercial, ugh.
I would LOVE to see the opening ceremonies in 1080p! I know a guy there that is recording on his HDRSR11 so I should be getting SOME good shots, but those things only get a few hours and he's hardly pro.

I'm in southern california and I missed the opening ceremony broadcast. Does anyone know how I can get a hold of this in HD? I checked the schedule and I don't see that they will replay it. Thanks!
