MGS4 HELP!!! Game not working! - Blu-ray Forum

I've played through and beaten MGS4 without problems; then I started a new save a few days ago. Today I went to play the game and when it goes into it the screen turns black, unchanging. I tried it again, this time the same thing happened but then the little circle thing in the top left corner was on signifying that the PS3 was "thinking". I let this persist for a few minutes but nothing happened. I turned the system off again and tried again to get the same thing but no "thinking".

Also, I could not pull up the XMB at all.

Anyone know of a similar incident? Any information or tips to help?

Is the BD in good condition?

It should be in good condition... I got it a few weeks ago and I take good care of my stuff. I will try a different game. Be back soon...

Does it crash your PS3? Also can you check if there is any network activity! For instance does it look like its downloading something?

You could try deleting the game cache under Game > Game Data Utility in the XMB.

IT WORKS!

Strangely enough it started working again.

I put in Ninja Gaiden Sigma (that worked well enough). Then I put MGS4 back in and it started working again.

What does it mean when you say "Does it crash your system"?

Good to hear. Basically 'crash your system' means..a freeze to the point where you have to turn it off from the system itself, rather then by the normal method

I had to hold my finger on the power sign for quite a few seconds to turn it off.
