4 HDMI inputs and upscaling to HDMI, looks like a very nice receiver.

That is a very nice receiver. I looked into purchasing it, but with HDMI 1.3 and DTHD and DTS MA receivers coming right around the corner. So instead I picked up the Denon AVR-2307CI for a great price to hold me over until the big guns come out.

I haven't got it yet, it was on backorder for a month when I ordered it. I should have it sometime this week. I went to the Magnolia store and played with all of the receivers and researched them for a long time. I was going to get the 2807 but didn't need the extra power or the AL24 processing for all channels, because I'm only using this receiver until HDMI 1.3 receivers come out and then the 2307 is getting put in the bedroom. The Denon seemed to be great for the money, doesn't have the "LFE bug",passes 1080p, and upconverts analog signals to HDMI. I'll be sure to post a mini-review when I get it.

theknub, the Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi is a great receiver, but be aware that it does have the PCM/LFE issue over HDMI, which impacts SQ on BDs and HD DVDs. There is a firmware update available from Pioneer through authorized service centers, but I gave up waiting on that and just switched to a Yamaha 2700. No regrets, either.

Read more about the firmware update here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=787551

No, the issue is definitely over HDMI. The 84 has an optional +10db boost on the analog inputs. Adding this same boost to the HDMI input is what the firmware fix is supposed to do. Check the first post on this thread for even more information: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=748147

And happy hunting!

I have it for 5-6 month already. Very good. The only isue I've had with it was xbox 360 when I've upgraded it to 1080p. Some banding to be precise. So, in the end I just connected xbox directly to TV. Apparently conversion from xbox composite to HDMI was somehow problem @ 1080p. Other than that no probs with other equipment. Sammy BD, Oppo, Dish VIP-622.
