Default Dish Network and DIRECTV Talk Merger

Dish Network and DIRECTV Talk Merger. I think it's a bad thing. Competition is always good for customers. I don't think we'll get that many HD channels if these two companies don't try to compete with each other.
Dish already broadcast in 1080P on their on demand channel.

I think you guys are looking too close. Yes there would not be competition in the satellite arena but there will still be competition between satellite, cable and IPTV (Verizon & AT&T). I would not see them resting on their laurels and just stop adding HD content.

Wait wait wait, with all the satellites BOTH companies have are you kidding me that you would not want them to merge? We could get over 200 HD channels or even then give us the 130 DirecTV is about to give and use the Dish satellites to give us 1080p video. This would be the greatest thing ever if they merged. Cable is still competition, so there would be no monopoly. I think it would be great if they merged.

If they merged, couldn't they use the bandwidth from both current companies and eliminate the redundant channels and offer less compressed HD, or even start offering normal programming in 1080p?

Does it mean that we have to put more dishes on our roof. I already have two dishes from dishnetwork.
