Cool Sony SF-2300 HTIB and BD-S350

I ordered one of these units the other day (in shipping) after reading it could do all the latest audio codes....albeit the HD thru bitstream....to go along side the BD-S350...but now as I read on the ever hungry audiophile I'm becoming it appears that what Sony (honestly) meant to say was it will process HD audio if the the player decodes it (LPCM) - BD-S550 ...but it cannot decode it as the BD-S350 only bitstreams HD Audio.... do I have this right or have I crossed over getting that old I can't see through marketing ploys anymore? ....I know it's not the alcohol indused impulse buying...

your htib will not decode true hd, dts ma, or dd ex or dts es. so youll have to get a player that will decode it instead. unless you take back the htib and get something else. if possible take it back and save another 200 at least. youll be a lot happier with seperates. you can find reasonable prices if you look

yeah, I would keep the Sony S350 and buy a different sound system.

Thanks for the reply.....as I see it to clarify with added clarification.... tru hd, dts ma are 5.1 and dd ex or dts es are 7.1....? I could keep the BD S-350 but would need a receiver/HT receiver that will do all the decoding due to it's bitstreaming tru hd, dts ma.....I apparently misread the SF-2300, it gave the impression it would process all but the latter two codecs which was fine....so I bought one ....and as anyone... started the did I buy the right thing process....that turned into me questioning their advertised LPCM 5.1 which I'm learning for a different spin means not bitstreamed.....I really thought this thing would process all codecs (latter two exception) emphasis being on process.....Thank YOU I haven't received it or for that matter opened it yet....I'm getting the impression receivers are the way to go and then you can get (virtually) any player....I just can't imagine having to piece stuff though ...I think too much...I've been reading these (+avs) boards since 6 this morning....I think my wife left me I'm not sure....as it is I've been researching for what seems like ages and started with the Pioneer 94TXH in mind ending up with what I did to stop my head from hurting .....after some cleansing shock therapy I guess it's back to the drawing board...

how much are you looking to spend (after/if you return the sound system)?

maybe we can point you in a good direction.

I can't Thank You guys enough for replying/offering assistance....man....if it wasn't for these boards....I now realize with what I got coming one of them has to go back....so now that I'm down to one eye open I'm going to half sleep on it....amount to what I'm guessing will be total indecision (although the receiver setup is seemingly smarter - now) and then the hunt resumes....

Peace Out....
