Question Maguire getting $50m for Spider-man?

After reading the article it really makes me think there's no way he's going to take this as seriously as he did the first two. He probably won't even get into shape like part 3 (the rolls hanging off when he was cleaning the sand out of his boots really didn't fit)...That is if it's true...

Quote:
Given that he’s the kind of movie star who wouldn’t have the pulling power to open any film in which he wasn’t wearing a red, webbed suit, Tobey Maguire must be celebrating what’s likely to be the payday of a lifetime, should rumours of his new Spider-man deal be true. Maguire has now apparently signed up to another two webslinging movies, for which he’s getting paid $50m. His $25m fee a movie would buy you any movie star in Hollywood, and it’s surprisingly, given the rumours that Sony was looking to cast its key franchise.

Furthermore, Maguire’s contract is reportedly allowing him to having mornings and evenings off to spend time with his daughter. If we’re reading that right, then that’s $50m to work afternoons and nights for six months. That ain’t bad work if you can get it.

The six month schedule is because Sony is believed to be pressing ahead with its plan to shoot Spider-man 4 and 5 back to back, presumably in a cost saving measure, and also to reduce the three year window (at least) between sequels. And while Sam Raimi isn’t confirmed for the director’s chair just yet, it’s highly unlikely now that we’ll be seeing someone else direct the films.
But I guess if you can...then do it

That guy sucks. So does the girl.

Good for him, though. I hope it is true, but I will not be seeing it in theaters.

What a waste of good money .. I don't think Toby is even close to A class by Hollywood standards but im sure the money will rake in for Sony regardless.

I don't know why they would pay him 50 mil, when I'll do it for half that.

I heard Sony were asking Will Smith to take on the role of Spider-Man.

Generally, that's become known as the Jim Carrey salary--
Aka the "How many freakin' times do I have to tell ya, I DON'T WANNA DO your stupid studio-made picture?...Okay, pal, you want a 'Hollywood deal', let's party! " salary.

(Seeing as Spidey 4 seems to be the movie that nobody wants to make except for the studio...)

Tobey is a damn good and driven actor. If he's taking money to do more Spider flicks then I'm sure he'll work like crazy to get in the best shape he can. And how can you fault someone for wanting to spend more time with theyre family?

I am all for it. I loved the first two and liked the 3rd one. I'll give Raimi another chance. He's said in interviews he felt that 3 was rushed and he was pretty much forced to squeeze in what he thought was too many characters (venom).

I'm not ashamed to say that Spider-man needs a revamp. New lead, new director, new vision, new everything. I think all 3 movies are as bad as the DareDevil disaster. Yes I'm aware of the billion dollars these goofy movies have made.

Default Welcome to Overpaid Hollywood

$50 million for 2 films. Depending on how you look at it, it is a lot or probably just on scale with someone who has had the luck of acting in very successful films. Reese Witherspoon makes about $15-20 million a movie. I seriously doubt her films have had the global fan base that the Spiderman series has. Nicole Kidman makes something in the same range. When did she last have a hit ?

Heck look at how much the CEOs on Wall Street make even after creating the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression and bankrupting 150 year old companies. I think all actors are overpaid, MacGuire probably no more than others in his category.

Only $50 million? These Spider-Man movies are a license to print money. Tobey had a huge amount of leverage as no studio would cast a new actor after three enormous hits in the franchise in a row. I bet he has a percentage of the gross also.
