Default Subwoofer near Samsung LCD??

I just got a new sub woofer from Best Buy. It's a compact 8" 300W Polk Audio PSW111 and it's not magnetically shielded. It suggests in the instructions not to set it up near a TV. I always have my sub woofer set up right next to my HDTV because I don't have that big of a room. I have 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround set up and everything but I don't want to screw anything up inside my TV. Is it bad? Should I move it? It would be inconvenient but if it affects LCD's then I will.

It's a Samsung 42" 1080P Flat-Panel LCD LN40

Seriously let me know though, because I just watched transformers to test it out.

It is only a problem with CRTs, no worries...

Ok because I always thought the shield was to preserve the strength of the magnet so the sub doesn't go bad. My last two subs were shielded.

I might take this back and get a klipsh 640 watt though. I want more power than I need but at a good price. I want enough so that I never have to crank it all the way up to shake the room. I'm sick of always having to keep them at their limit. The polk did work great though.

Would you be interested in upping your subwoofer budget and seriously upgrading to a eD A2-300? Look in my sig below to find the link. It's an awesome sub and I'm sure is better than the Klipsch.

This is from the thread A Guide to Subwoofers:

Magnetic Shielding: Most modern speakers are magnetically shielded. Unshielded speakers can distort the picture and shift the colors. If an unshielded speaker must be placed close to a TV because of room-size or furniture considerations, it is recommended that you put two sheets of solid galvanized steel, cut to size, between the speaker and the TV to block the harmful electro-magnetic fields. Please note that magnetic fields are a major problem for CRT (tube) TVs. However, LCD and Plasma TVs are not affected by them.

The price range he is looking at the A2-300 would be best...

Not to take anything away from the Paradigms, I am only speaking about the range he bought his original sub...
