Does the box say one was supposed to be included? I'm certain that they don't provide an HDMI cable, but the "A/V Cable" statement is somewhat non-specific.

Signs point to "no".

No, it just comes with composite cables, just like the PS2. The Sony component cables are only 19.99 though - even at the big box stores.

I usually do not care for redneck humor but it fits the bill here. That statement really is funny as no one could or would make it seriously, seriously! And, get a Mac!

Congratulations. PS3 is an outsranding blu-ray player.

It comes with the composite video cable. My recommendation is to purchase a reasonable (but not expensive) HDMI cable if your TV set could take it.

my tv currently doesnt have a HDMI port (1080i) but we are planning on upgrading it early next year....so i will probably just pick up the standard sony issued cables for 60 bucks or whatever it is and hopefully its at blockbuster so i can get 40 bucks off with gift cards

PS3 uses the same cord for component as the PS2. You can get them dirt cheap on ebay or any game store like gamestop, etc. BTW, the 360 doesnt come with a ability to upgrade hard drives, wifi, built in battery charger, a HD disc playback system, web browser, capability for lossless audio, reliable hardware, etc etc. But you're right, 360 is better cause it comes with a component cable.

well said. in addition, why would anyone who's not in a hurry buy the official sony hdmi cable (and if the op doesn't have an hdmi tv yet, he's definitely not in a hurry).

Who said anything about games in this thread or the topic at hand? You said the 360 is better because it comes with component cables. Absolutely ABSURD statement.

That is purely a subjectively debated subject, and not at all related to whether a console comes with HD-cables or not.

Believe it or not, but there are actually people in the world that prefers the Playstation 3 over the Xbox 360 - I, myself, am one of them, but I would never go about thrash-talking the competition, and most sane Xbox 360 owners behave the same way as I do, but it seems that both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have fanboys that go out of their way to do the PR-job for the respective company.

And if "missing" HD-cables is all it takes for you to go from considering the PS3 to claiming that the Xbox 360 is a better gaming system, I would suggest to you, that your opinion was made up before-hand and that you were looking for an "excuse" to make your opinion public.

It may have more games, but I wouldn't say better.

Probably why the don't do this is some HDTV's ( the very old ones) don't have an HDMI port. The people who have an HDTV with an HDMI port won't want to use component cabels to hook up the PS3. If Sony did include component cables it would undoubtedly cost more.

I never delve into fanboyism or the like, or such stuff as being a staunch defender of the PS3.

But that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
