Question Is a 1080p HDTV worth the money?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a new tv and a Blu-Ray player to go with it. I'm not sure whether to buy a Samsung LE32A559P (Full HD 1080p - £490) or a Samsung LE32A436T (HD Ready 720p - £350). The Blu-Ray player I'm buying is a Samsung BD-P1500/XEU (£165). On a 32" tv (Both models), will the full HD make enough of a difference to pay an extra £140? Please bear in mind I'm only 14 and therefore don't have money growing on trees lol. Also, the Blu-Ray player says it has full HD support (1080p), if I bought the HD Ready tv (720p), is the Blu-Ray player able to output a 720p signal? Another Question! I have an Xbox 360, if I bought the Full HD (1080p) tv, is the tv able to take a 720p signal?
Thanks for any help,
Switz999.

P.S. Sorry about prices if you're not British lol!

Any 1080p TV should be able to accept a 720p signal. However the XBOX360 does output at 1080p.

How far are you going to be sitting from the TV? At 32", 1080P won't make much of a difference unless you're sitting within five feet or so of it. 720P at that size would probably be the better choice.

For a 32" TV you can spend you money on better things than the difference from 720p to 1080p.

Your first mistake was buying a xbox 360.

Lets say...you purchased a ps3...then you have a blu-ray player that can update via the internet....And it reads 720 and 1080p
And goes very well with hdtv's

Now you purchased a 360 which only goes 1080i
doesnt play blu-rays
and has a high percentage of hardware failure.

First thing...scrap the 360...trade or sell....get a ps3...then get a 1080p hdtv
my suggestion...LCD...samsung or sony

Just trying to get you on the "right" track

Actually the 360 does do 1080P over HDMI and component.

Yeah if you want to have it wireless and do 1080p..and play blu-ray (((oh wait they had hd-dvd drive )))))) Then you pay more than you would with originally going with a ps3.

Bottom line...the ps3 goes well as a gaming / home theatre system
xbox 360 is a gaming system and thats it

You want more bang you guess which one will give you that--(thug life)

If i had to give my suggestions and what would give you the best for the money with no corners cut...i would go HDTV--LCD--samsung or sony...nothing under 40 inches...and a ps3...game / blu ray player

Thats me tho....

Edited....

Its really all up to you go to your local stores and look at a 32" with their hd sat feed, and then look at one with a blu ray. If you have a hh gregg near you they should have a 32 XBR6 with a blu on it. Decide for yourself.

Well depends on how close you sit to it, but true 1080p is twice as much pixels than 720, so is up to you and your funds to decide if it's worth it to make the leap to the full spec now, or save and upgrade later.

To get an idea of the difference look at reviews of the latest movies that have 1080 images and compare them to the 720 images changing the site's preferences

^ If you have the room, I'd suggest you get a slightly bigger HD ready TV (37" or even 40"). There's no point in a Full HD 32" TV if you're gonna be watching it from 6' away.

?

I sit about 6 feet away.. 52" is the way to go!!

but to OP, at 32".. get a 720P and spend the rest on something else (audio, maybe not enough), or blu-rays that are worthwhile for collection.

What if he likes gaming on both? I don't remember the OP coming here asking about your opinions on the 360. There's nothing wrong with owning one or more consoles. Hell I own all 3. My family and I get different uses out of each of them. To be sure, if I could only pick one it'd be the PS3 hands down, but that's not the question here.

To the OP, I'd actually recommend to save your pennies and get a bigger set. 32" is just not going to satisfy you over time. Save up and get a 40" and you still have a budget-conscious, "small" set that will give you a great wow factor in a small apartment, bedroom or dorm room. Other than that, just get a bigger set.

1080p vs 720p is entirely based upon viewing distance vs. screen size. The bigger the set, the further away the differences are discerned. Do yourself a favor and save up a bit more.

That's only if you were lucky enough to buy one when they had the hdmi port added onto it.

I was not so lucky.
