Default Canadian Flag

Out of curiosity, why the use of the odd symbol representing the Canadian flag (for instance, on your front page next to some of the Blu-ray releases). Does it have some meaning to anyone? Here's the info on the proper Canadian flag, if anyone is interested.

I looked at that link you provided.....it seems to be the exact same as what we have on this page.

I think it is supposed to be a flag waving, and hence there is a bulge and a shadow.

The main problem is it seems to be 2:3 instead of 1:2.

I imagine Americans would be p!ssed if someone cramned Old Glory onto a 2:3 fabric, but Canadians seems to ignore a messed up flag. The Chinese used a 2:3 at the Olympics and so did the medal standings on CBC's own site.

Hmm. Ah, I think I see the problem. Take a look at the image that's in the title bar of the page I linked to. You'll see what I expected the flag to look like when in miniature. If you zoom in on the flag used on this site, you'll see the obvious difference.

It's only going to be noticeable to folks from Canada, and it's not a big deal (although I suppose if I was the strict patriotic sort, it would be). It definitely looks odd, though.

And yes...it is squished!

on the front page i think it's just to show that it's a Canadian release since Amelie poulain was released by the TVA studios in Canada

Yes, it is a wavy flag

And for technical- and visual design reasons, all country flags are the same size (18x12), while in reality there are a lot of different shapes. So we don't have an "agenda" or hate Canada or something
Actually Canada has gotten some love lately and will get more

What's the big deal? Clearly it's a "waving Canadian flag". If it was "Old Glory" I am sure it would look the same and honestly, I could care less what a little itty bitty flag on the interwebs looks like.

The squish messes up the maple leaf. Usually, the maple leaf is shrunk to keep its proportions on a 2:3. But, I find 2:3 makes the flag look wierd, and have always prefered the proper proportions.

Sorry, the issue for me wasn't the sizing (although that's off too). It was the leaf that looked odd. Guess it's just me, though. It's not an and I don't want to so I'll just
