Default I need recommendations for RCA Interconnects

I purchased a Martin Logan Abyss subwoofer and I am setting up via 2 channel/Multi Channel.

The manual says to connect the left and right outputs of my receiver to the left and right inputs of the abyss subwoofer. I already have the LFE cable. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

www.audioadvisor.com under the cables section. You'll find some good audioquest interconnects, as well as other brands. Here's a direct link to the cables, http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=23

Since you already own the LFE cable, all you really need is a Y adapter (1 female, 2 male) as in the picture. Buy a good quality Y adapter. Also make sure your LFE cable is coax (preferably RG6) with double or quad shielding and long enough so that you can experiment with positioning your subwoofer in different locations.

Most receivers have a single LFE output. Connect your LFE cable to the LFE output of the receiver and connect the other end of the LFE cable to the female side of the Y adapter. Finally, connect the two male sides of the Y adapter to the subwoofer.

I probably should have been clearer, I need to hook up the LFE cable for multi channel and the RCA Interconnects for 2 channel.

the "LFE" cable is an RCA cable, so when you say "RCA interconnects" its quite vague. You will have to be even more specific.

What are you trying to connect for two channel and multichannel?

Are you saying that you want 5.1 for movies and 2.1 for music? In that case, you do not need separate RCA cables. Most new receivers have an internal setup program where you can change to LFE, LFE+Main, and set your speakers to large/small, or kill some of the speakers. You can also set your receiver to stereo or some of the built-in DSP options.

Yes that is correct, I want 5.1 for movies and 2.1 for music. I have a denon 3808ci receiver, and you are correct about about changing LFE to LFE+Main I was reading in the manual about that.

Here is the Martin Logan Manual, the multichanel instructions are on page 8.

Ignore the Martin Logan manual. Just connect your LFE cable from your Denon receiver to the LFE input of the subwoofer. I have the Denon 4308CI. I assume the setup programs are the same.

Go to the setup menu of your receiver.
Go to the section that says Manual Setup
Go to Audio Setup (not speaker setup)
Go to 2 CH Stereo
Set your Main speakers to Large
Set the Subwoofer to LFE+Main
Set the Crossover to 60Hz or lower, depending on how large your main speakers are.
Go back

Go to Manual Setup
Go to Speaker Setup
Go to Speaker Config.
Set the Main speaker to Large
Set all other speakers to Small
Set the Subwoofer and Surround speakers to Yes
Set the Subwoofer to LFE this time
Set the Crossover Frequency to 80Hz
Finish and go back

When you play a movie, go to Surround Mode and set it to Standard
When you play a CD, go to Surround Mode and set it to Stereo
Your receiver will remember these settings

You are set from now on.
For movies, you will get 5.1 and for CDs, you will get 2.1.

In the above settings, I assumed your main speakers are large. If they are bookshelf size or cannot produce low frequencies, set them to small and change the crossover frequency from 60Hz to 8oHz or higher (don't go too much above 100Hz).

I hope this helps. I will send you my bill.

I really appreciate all your help. This forum is truly amazing.

So to sum up, for movies the denon will do most of the bass management and in 2 channel mode the sub will do most of the bass management.
