Default "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert" Blu-ray won't play on PC

Hi,

I've tried almost everything to get the new Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Concert BluRay to play on my computer but unfortunately without any success

It only plays the ads / trailers and then when it should jump to the main menu the player software either crashes or stops playing.

I've allready tried PowerDVD 7.3, PowerDVD 8 and Nero ShowTime it dosn't make any difference. None of the programs was able to play the BluRay past the trailers

Other BluRay discs work like a charm only the Miley Cyrus concert one dosn't.

I think that maybe the BluRay itself is in some way broken or hasn't been mastered 100%ly correctly. What do you think?

The BluRay is brand new out of the box and has no scratches or dust on it either.

Unfortunately I don't have a different player to try it with.

Has anyone in here managed to watch this BluRay on a computer? If so which software did you use?

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions cause I'm a huge Miley Cyrus fan who really want's to watch the concert in HD as soon as possible

Thanks

karlmueller

Hope you can get it to work.. maybe you need to wait for a update from powerdvd?

You're really rude

You propably think Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus is childish and for kids only, aren't you? I guess you've never listened to her songs or watched a single episode of Hannah Montana cause otherwise you would now that her music is great for everybody not just for kids and even Hannah Montana is still a very good and funny show even if you aren't a kid anymore!

Go ahead listen to her music and watch HM and then if you still don't like it it's OK for me but you should at least give her a chanche!

I'm 21 and a huuuuge fan of her and if you don't like her it's your problem but that dosn't mean you should say such rude things about her!

And no the BluRay came with 4 3D glasses bundled only for watching it on TV you had to get them yourself at WalMart (for very little or no money) or use the one that came with "TV Guide".

Back to topic:

Yes I've also thought that an update for PowerDVD could get it to work but I really don't want to wait that long to watch the concert

Why are you so rude?????

Can't you guys keep this discussion at a technical level instead of only bashing Miley?

You might think that I'm a total child cause I'm a huge Miley Cyrus fan at the age of 21 but do you think you posting rude things about Miley in here instead of helping me with my problem is an adult like behaviour?????

Honestly...best of luck with your disc and I wish I had an answer....BUT,

Might I please recommend InFlames In Live We Trust until you get it going though.

Try it...you'll see.

Ok, you're trying to play this on a pc right? What are you computer specs (yes I know you can play other BD's fine but I still need to know ) I have seen Disney movies do this before. Do you have the latest version of your video drivers, (that has been a known hinderance with PowerDVD before). Finally - go to www.arcsoft.com and download the trial version of TMT (TotalMedia Theatre) it will play BD - see if it works. Call me back if you have success or if you fail - we'll work on it from there.

Don't take things said in jest on a forum so seriously.

My 4 year old loves Hannah Montana and I have to admit there are far worse TV shows to watch.

Also, LOL @ the In Flames recommendation.

Thanks prerich for your advice! I'll check that out immidiately

And for all of you who think that I'm a troll, idiot, pervert or something like that:

First of all I'm not a pervert. Sure I like Miley (otherwise I wouldn't be a fan) but certainly not in a romantic or sexual way She's 15 and I'm 21 if I would have a crush on her something would be really wrong!

I'm just a huuuuge fan of her whats wrong with that?????

And believe it or not I'm not the only Miley fan in my age Especially in the USA there are a lot of Miley fans my age and older!

And btw if it wouldn't be for the Miley Concert BluRay I wouldn't even have a BluRay drive by now! Sure I would have bought a BluRay drive sooner or later but certaily not that "early" if it wouldn't be for the Miley BluRay

Watching the concert in FullHD with brilliant DTS surround was totally worth importing the BluRay from the US to Germany and spending 130 Euro for a BluRay drive to me!

This thread seems to bring all the mature responds possible...

For my part I don't have a blu-ray drive in my pc, and neither does I have miley's blu-ray (I do watch one in a while her show but I'm no fan)

What I find strange is that the previews are working... so maybe the disc is defect.

Also you said is an import disc? Is it region lock free?

Have you tried to skip the previews?

Actually, most of the complaints latch onto Disney, and their insecure desire to still retain an in-house "pet" tween-idol, ever since losing Hillary Duff to the pop machine after the Lizzie McGuire Movie.

To make a long story short, "Notice how the Hanna marketing started almost to the DAY that the High School Musical salaries went too far out of reach...?"
(And "Camp Rock" the day after Miley.)

Upgrading the graphic driver didn't fix the problem, skipping the previews don't help either. And the Arcsoft Program isn't even starting on my machine. When I doubleclick on that icon to lauch it nothing happens

Fortunately I've managed to watch the concert by ripping the disc to the HDD and then creating modified .iso Images which play directly the concert when mounted in a virtual dirve and then played with PowerDVD. The extras were watchable by simply opening the ripped .m2ts files directly with PowerDVD. So the only thing I "lost" with this methode is the singalong mode but I can live with that for now.

I know that this methode isn't legal because it involves cracking the copy protection but since there was no other way for me to watch my legally purchased BluRay I don't feel guilty about that!

Regardless that I'm able to watch the concert now over and over again as long as I keep those 42 GB of files on my HDD I'm going to call Disney tomorrow in order to inform them about the problem so they could get the player software vendors to fix this issue.

The moment my orignal BluRay works I'll be happy to delete the copy on my HDD

Concerning the non-technical topic this thread got into it's just getting more and more rediculas!

You're only trying to hurt me by saying rude things about Miley, her family and me What have Miley done to any of you to deserve being bashed that way?????

If you think that this behaviour is more adult-like than being a fan of a 15 year old and her kids tv show at the age of 21 .......

I just checked the blu-ray case (I bought it for my daughter) and it says it is region code "A". As a result, it would likely not be playable in a European drive. There may be nothing wrong with your disk, your computer or your software, When you ripped the disc to your hard-drive, you probably removed the region coding.

Believe me it has nothing to do with the region code. First of all my drive / player software is set to region A

But if you have the BluRay could yoi try playing it on a computer to see wether the same problem occurs?

Thanks

p.s. the audio and video quallity of the disc is superb and 3D works really well too. Your daugther will love it!

I'm thinking it has something to with BD profile since it can play the previews but nothing else. I would imagine your player can't handle the BD-J.

I didn't mind watching Hannah Montana all. She's a lot better singer than I thought she woulld be.

I think PowerDVD should be able to handle BD-J shouldn't it?

And sure Miley is a good singer!

She had 3 records (albums) so far and they all startet straight at #1 of Billboard Hot 200 in the first week after the release!

A lot of people are prejudicing Miley as "for children only" and childish just because of the fact that she is just 15 years old and that she's a Disney star.

But infact Miley's music is great for all ages and you are only too old to watch Hannah Montana if you fell yourself too old

Seriously, you can't be for real with all that. You've got to be trolling for a reaction (which you're getting in spades).

On topic, the very nature of the software you're using puts too many things into question. There may be an issue with the homebrew software you're using to strip the region. There may be an issue with BD-J. There may be an issue with your computer or its ability to play this disc.

I would recommend first of all turning off or uninstalling that homebrew app. You have no idea how well it works, and it's probably not been tested on various apps. You have your software set to region A anyway, so there's no reason for that to be running.

Outside of that I'd recommend to try it on someone else's region A player if you have the opportunity. Otherwise, you're probably going to be out of luck finding an answer to this question. Disney/Buena Vista support won't touch that with a 10' pole (or 10 meters, if you prefer).
