Hi,
I have 4.4 gb mpg fiel on my ps3 hdd and i need to copy it back to my PC HDD via my USB HDD which has ample space, however the copy process stops when i get to around 92% (which i think would correspond to 4GB) Are there any work arounds i can use to get the file given the 4gb fat32 issue ? 1. When backing up the PS to a USB hdd ,what format is the back up stored in. 2. If i got a USB to sata hdd adapter could i hook the ps3 drive to my PC and just copy the .mpg file to my pc ? or does the ps3 encrypt its contents? 3. copying to an 8gb usb stick ? any advice appreciated. regards jamcas ps you may be asking how i got a large file onthe ps3, i think i burnt it to dvd and then copied from dvd to ps3 hdd. Then why not use the original DVD you burned?
Another option is to use the DLNA network though I don't know if that's do-able. fuad |

I don't know exactly what the PS3 backup format is, as I never use it (yet). That yellow dog linux installed on my PS3 that does not work in SDTV might be the reason in future I'll use it. but I think it won't be compatible with PC format. 8GB memory stick is normally formatted in FAT32. So, I am guessing you can't |

i backed up my ps3 and the process seems to create a directory where it dumps 4.1gb chunks of *.dat files which contain the backed up data.
so no way to get my file that way. also tried windows media player (as a dlna server) but you cant copy from ps3to media server, you can only read from the media server. damm im in a hole here, the ps3 would read and copy a complete 4.48gb file from a data DVD disc, but i can tget the file back from the ps3. just like additional video codecs, do you think the ps3 will support NTFS ? what would stop sony making the ps3 support NTFS ? licencing fees from ms ? cheers JAMCAS |

how about if you just try to just partition your HDD, with NTFS or linux partition. It might work, because PS3 can work with linux, but again, it might not. You may have to use partition magic to format it to linux partition.

Sorry, can't help. You should try formatting the HDD in other FS, though. |
