Can someone give me a quick rundown of the cable connections i would have for an HDTV, PS3, and receiver with HDMI?

HDMI cable from PS3 to TV... and HDMI cable from TV to Receiver? is that correct? and is that it?

What receiver do you have? This may affect the answer.

does your receiver decode or accept LPCM? if it does all you need is what you have listed above. If your receiver does not accept audio through HDMI you will need a optical audio cable

What type of connections do you have at the back of the cable box and type of receiver you are using.

it will still depend on whether or not the new receiver you buy allows audio to pass through via the HDMI, not all receivers allow this.

Those should all accept audio through hdmi so you should be all set with the aforementioned hdmi set-up.

connect both the cable box and the ps3 directly to the receiver and then the receiver to the tv.

oh ok, so the actual connection between cable box and tv that was setup when comcast was over is fine. Its just the cable box to receiver with HDMI. And this will make both the video and audio better for watching tv?
