Default Connections

Hello....Im very new to Blu-ray. Im trying to figure out all the terminology, and trying to make a plan to get compatible components. I guess I dont understand a couple things.

Since HDMI carries both audio and video; coming out of the Blu-Ray player, do you go (connect) to the tv with the HDMI for video, then to the receiver from the tv for audio? Or are their separate (multiple) HDMI outs on a Blu-Ray player for audio and video? So then...do tv's have HDMI outs?

On my current setup, which is just a DVD player, an HTR reciever, I go optical out of the dvd player to the receiver, and just s-video from the DVD player to the TV, and Im done, simple. But considering the high res audio of Blu-ray, I want to make sure I understand all the connection and decoding stuff to get the right components, and get the best sound.

Thanks for the help!
