It really depends on how much you want to spend and your space size. But if you just want something simple that will put out great sound, this bundle would work just fine:
http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-888-...822857&sr=8-18 The Denon 888 does not decode DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD on board, but your PS3 does, so it will send the decoded signal to the reciever as uncompressed PCM and you will get fully uncompressed audio via the HDMI cable. Plus both Denon and Klipsch have superb quality for the price. The whole bundle looks to run just over a grand. Just a suggestion, hope it helps. Good luck!! |

You know, that question isn't really as simple to answer as you might think. There is a lot of your own time that needs to be invested into doing your own research. I'd go to some home theatre specialty stores and test some equipment out properly.
My suggestion is to bank up $1000 - $1500 (U.S.) or $1500 - $2000 (CAD) and really take some time to listen with your own ears. But, make sure that whatever you get is NOT "HDMI passthrough" and that it can handle up to "7.1 Multi-Channel PCM" since that's the only HD audio codec that the PS3 outputs (DTS HD MA and Dolby TrueHD are converted into PCM by the PS3). |

Thanks, that already helps me a lot. I'll go to the same store I bought my HDTV. They have various home theater setups, some with PS3's they can connect to the any setup (where possible).
Since I'm not very tech-savvy when it comes to sound issues, I thought it's better to ask some general info. So I noted down:
Anyway, thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll spend a few weekends at shops testing out various sound systems ![]() |
