1) I'm wondering if imported blu ray movies can be played on the PS3 or not?

2) How good are cartoon/anime movies in Hi Def?? can anybody show me a comparison from DVD and HD?

It depends on the region code. If you are in Region A, check that the disc you want is compatible with Region A.

Many, many Blu-rays from around the world are region free and can be played in any PS3 worldwide. Always check this site for which specific BDs are region free:

Animation looks awesome on Blu-ray and often looks better than any other type of material.
