Default How do I get my samsung to play at 120HZ

I just brought home a Samsung LN40B630 for my bedroom today.

I have it connected to a HD direct TV box. when I change the channel on the upper left of the screen it shows 1028x720P @ 60 HZ

I have the picture mode set to 120 HZ standard.

Shouldn't it show 120 HZ ? If so does someone know how to get it to play at 120 HZ ?

just taking a stab here but the display on the top right should be what feed is playing. HD prgramming is 720P (AFAIK)
Have you tried playing a BD or DVD? Does it say anything different?

If your set has a 120 hz refresh rate its always on.. Its adjusted by the amp setting in the menu... All sets will say @60 hz.. mine says 1920x1080i@60hz.. Its just the standard the actual broadcast puts out.. Does yours even have 120 refresh rate? Last year the series 5's did not

nevermind.. u have a series 6.. But yea its on.. When you switch to a channel and it displays your resolution, with a HZ to the right , its always gonna say 60hz, because like I said thats what all television is taped on.. your TV ITSELF adjusts the image by adding 120 hz refresh rate, not the actual broadcast signal coming to it

I had the same question till i read the manual. If you set the auto motion plus 120hz to smooth, that is the highest you can get.
