Default Minimum screen size for 1080p

What is the minimum screen size that you need in order to be able to tell noticeable difference between 1080p and 720p?

IMO, it varies on screen size and contrast ratio. Just wait a little while and let the experts help you out.

this is mainly contingent upon viewing distance.

There is no minimum screen size.
It all depends on distance.

If you have a 1920x1200 monitor, download a 720p and 1080p trailer from Apple of the same trailer, watch them both full screen one after the other.

On a 24" 1920x1200 monitor I can see the difference between the two at a regular viewing distance of around 2ft.

It depends really, working at Circuit City we once had a test and put together a couple of 720p and 1080p TVs side by side. For example we put a panasonic 42px80u and 42pz80u side by side and fed them both a 1080p signal. 4 feet and beyond none of us could tell the difference.

Hyped up as it is, resolution is far from being the most important feature of an HDTV. My 720p plasma would annihilate most "FULL HD" tvs out there when it comes to picture quality.

this chart is very useful, use it to determine how far away you need to be from your tv to get the full benefit from it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1440p

it is just another resolution that will not see the light of day for many eons to come! at least not in the regular tv we can buy from stores today. 1080p will be the defacto standard or a long, long time!

There are a couple of computer monitors that are 1600 x 2560 pixels. A 1.78 BD watched on those would be 1440 x 2560. A 2.37 BD would be 1080 x 2560.

Remember that table is the farthest away you can see the diference. You can see the difference sitting closer than that.
