Default Sub hook up??

How do I hook up my subwoofer to my Yamaha 663 by using speaker wire? My sub is old and it doesn't have a line out on it, just speaker wire connections.

Oof. It means it is a passive subwoofer. You are going to need an external amplifier for such a task.

Or get a new subwoofer,

Using speaker wire;
Receiver main L & R to sub L & R in.
Sub out L & R to you main speakers.

With you current sub your not taking advantage of the LFE channel. Best to sell that sub and get a new one.

It could also mean that it only accepts line-level inputs. In that case, you need to run the speaker wire from the receiver to the sub, and then out to the speakers. If your sub only has inputs, then it is passive and you will need an external amp.

If thats the case, JJ is right, best to just get a new one!
